Mr. Bernard Darrel
General Electric Co.
1 River Rd.
Bldg 37, Rm. 679
Schenectady, N.Y. 12301

Dear Mr. Darrel:

\J
Enclosed is a recent report which describes some of the work we
are doing in the field of manipulators and automatic assembly.

As I said during our phone conversation, the arms we use
have force control and sense thru motor currents. This gives a force resolution
sufficient for a large variety of tasks.
We also have a 6-component force sensor which mounts in the wrist, but this
still needs more development.

We have some films of our work, which are available on a no charge
loan basis. Two titles which would be of interest to you are:"Motion and
Vision", and "Automated Pump Assembly". Please request them by writing on your letterhead
to "Film Services" at the above address.

I also suggest you contact Dr. Donald Pieper- of the Man-Mate group,
and Dr. Charles Rosen at the Stanford Research Institute.\.
