The Data Disc display system provides individual television images
for 32 terminals simultaneously. Video images are stored on a 32 track
rotating disk, with one read/write head per track. Although the Data Disc
is a binary device, gray scale images can be formed by feeding the ouput of
several Data Disc channels into the Video Synthesizer.
When Data Disc, Inc went out of business, Amcomp took over servicing. When
Amcomp went out of business, DataPoint took over the task. Now DataPoint
is getting out of the busines. Watch this space for news on the new SUN Terminal.
.MACHINE(FOONLY C1 CHANNEL)
The C1 Channel interfaces the Ampex disk system to our timesharing system.
It provides a high bandwidth channel between the main system memory and
the Ampex disks. The KL-10 requests a transfer between memory and disk,
and doesn't have to worry about it again until the C1 has completed the
The Varian 4224 plotter can make plots up to 22" wide, with a resolution of 200
points per inch. It has excellent linearity, and is limited in speed only by
how fast the host processor (the KA-10) can send data to it.

This equipment rack houses many of the more esoteric periperals on the KL-10
IO Bus. This is all facilitated by the TTL IO Bus adapter (topmost rack), which
converts the DEC IO Bus to standard TTL logic voltage levels.
