Existing FINGER lives in FINGER.SAI[F,ACT].

(I think it should be called THUMB, or PINKY or some such ...)
I like your proposal. I would like it by PPN rather than job number.
WHOPHN is perfectly good for all that stuff. Since there is room on
the screen however, I think it ought to list ALL jobs, with maybe a
blank row separating the phantoms from the folks.
I also think that the TTY number should be included (for PPKing, mostly).
Note that Job and TTY numbers can be used as punctuation thus freeing
a few more character spaces, eg

Not so pretty, but... Also, the room tables should get "built in" using
some special program that reads the room name and ppn files or something.
This would eliminate waiting for the disk. In fact, the program could
read the time last written for these files and reload their data automatically.
I would be willing to help code this up.
Get the current jobs
Get tty of each job
Get location of each job
sort by PPN(first character), Job #
lay down in page image, add real name and location
