Mr. David J. Latzke
Major Subcontracts
Sundstrand Advanced Technology Operations
4747 Harrison Avenue
Rockford, Ill. 61101
Dear Mr. Latzke:
\J
Enclosed is our proposal for design, development and
delivery of a Control System for use in controlling the manipulator you are
proposing for RFQ Y-107454 for the Hanford Engineering Development Laboratory.
Our effort is specifically restriced to the "out of cell" computer system, its
related interfaces, the manual control panels, displays, and interfaces, the
required software, and the data handling equipment required by the specifications.
Not included are the axis power amplifiers and velocity servos. Nor are the
resolver or transducer decoders included. Sundstrand will supply us with BCD
or straight binary data. We will output 12bit resolution +-10vdc velocity
commands to 5 motions.
The price for the entire development effort we are proposing will be
$176,000 including delivery to Sundstrand, and initial acceptance testing as
outlined in HWS-9437, of one complete control system. Delivery is 8 months
ARO or September 15, 1978 whichever date is later.
We will manufacture and deliver additional similar units at a price
of $47,000 each in quantities of 3. Any modifications or special features required
on these additional units would subject them to an additional charge. This price
will also be subject to a Price Index adder as of the date of the order relative to
October 1, 1977.
This quotation valid until December 31, 1977.\.

PS.\J I have enclosed some product information on Unimation, Inc. and a brochure
on the Vicarm manipulators I developed over the past 10 years. Unimation acquired
Vicarm, Inc. last January. A copy of a recent version of the VAL language instruction
set is also included. This is a completely tested and debugged programming and operating
language. Also included is a recent ad for a product by one of our sister companies-
Consolidated Controls Corp. We can tap their expertise on projects of this sort, if need be.\.
