Mr. Ward McClure
Texas Instrument Corporation
M.S. 132 Div. 8
P.O. Box 5936
Dallas Texas 75222

Dear Mr. McClure:

\J
	Enclosed is a preliminary
list of some pertainent reference material. I have enclosed copies
of the available Stanford University reports on work in robotics and
artificial intelligence.
The microfiche includes abstracts of all Stanford
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory reports thru 1973 (abstract list begins on page 67).
The JPL reports are analytical in nature, but good
as background and program planning references. The M.I.T. report mentioned
refers to their thinking about what they planned
to do with their arm. I believe they have some later reports out too.
Stanford Research Institute has a model M.I.T. arm, as well as the larger
Stanford Arm, but they are still in the process of developing their computer
interface. Draper Labs has big ideas, but their progress has not been outstanding.

I have also enclosed some preliminary information on the arm and the
interface requirements to enable you to proceed at your end in advance of the
actual delivery of the arm.

Should you have any furthur questions please feel free to contact me.\.
